****************
The Old English Sheepdog Club of Finland is a national breed club. It works under the Finnish Kennel Club and its main mission is to:
- maintain activity within the breed
- upkeep, guide and improve the breeding towards the original type
- helping owners breed, keep care of and train their OES.
Our club was established in 1970 as the Finnish Bobtail Club and was approved as a official breed club in 1989, when the club reached to minimum amount of members. This means the club is responsible for breeding guidelines. In the 2000’s the amount of members is slowly going up, now being about 130. The club has changed its name in 2008 and 2014, first to Vanhaenglanninlammaskoirat - Finnish Old English Sheepdog Club ry and then to its current name Vanhaenglanninlammaskoirat ry - The Old English Sheepdog Club of Finland.
Mainly the clubs events are to do with dog shows, but we also organize herding, obedience, nose work and agility. We aim to maintain the quality of breeding and encourage different hobbies with the OES.
The club represents the breed in the Finnish Kennel Club and trains the new judges for the breed. For members we have special meet-ups for both owners and breeders, and publish year books, calendars and christmas maganizes. The club also organizes a speciality show annually, and smaller events such as match shows.
